This is a real old roof slate shingle. It came off of an old Victorian house out here in Chester County PA. The house is still standing, and lived in, this tile was obtained when part of the house was rebuilt due to fire. Rumor has it that the house is haunted!! People report seeing a little girl in an attic window - but no little girl of that age lived in the house. -- just so you know this is an authentic roofing slate, and not one from the craft store -- take a look at the line down the center. This is where the other tiles were placed on top of this one. Notice also, the uneven holes. This was done on purpose so the boards of the roof didn't split. 

I have painted a few of my anthropomorphic veggie men - the Wicked Weeds™ on this slate. We have Butch Butternut on the left, Rot N. Pumpkin on the right, and Zeke Zucchini in the back. They have the worst attitudes-they are truly Bad Seeds!! 

The slate has been coated in a non toxic acrylic sealer for durability.
