Halloween Folk Art - by Jan Pierce

This matched pair of vintage candle sconces has been repainted in traditional Halloween colors of Orange, Black and Cream. The design is completely original and shows as an almost mirror image on each sconce.  You see part of a haunted house that sits atop a hill. A few bats swoop in front of the full moon as a spooky ghost floats nearby. The edges have been decorated in a black and cream checkerboard pattern. The candle cups have been striped in orange, black and cream. Both sconces have been antiqued to complete the vintage look.

About the Artist

      Jan Pierce is a Chester County, PA artist who creates one of a kind (OOAK) folk art treasures. Hand painted lamps, trays and found objects join hand sculptured dolls, paintings and jewelry in an eclectic selection of artwork. Her traditional Halloween style continues to delight collectors of vintage and contemporary Halloween Art alike. Some of her work is inspired by images found on vintage Halloween ephemera. Some is a natural manifestation of her love for this sinister holiday.   Most of her artwork is done on functional items. Boring or outdated items that have been cast off are transformed into unique treasures that will be loved for many years to come. Because she doesn't restrict her work to canvas or paper, her items are usually one of a kind. Occasionally, as with her miniature paintings, she will make a few prints, but even these will be limited. All works are signed and dated by the artist.
